«Οι αμέτρητες όψεις του Ωραίου» ολοκληρώνουν την Κυριακή 8 Δεκεμβρίου την επιτυχημένη πορεία τους. Η έκθεση αποτέλεσε το τελευταίο μέρος της εκθεσιακής τριλογίας που σχεδιάστηκε για να τιμήσει την επέτειο των 150 χρόνων του Εθνικού Αρχαιολογικού Μουσείου από τη θεμελίωση του εμβληματικού κτηρίου που το στεγάζει. Η τριλογία άνοιξε το 2015 με την έκθεση «“Ένα όνειρο ανάμεσα σε υπέροχα ερείπια…” Περίπατος στην Αθήνα των περιηγητών, 17^ος-19^ος αιώνας», όπου μεταξύ άλλων αναδείχθηκε το πολιτισμικό περιβάλλον μέσα στο οποίο διαμορφώθηκε η ανάγκη για την ίδρυση του Εθνικού Μουσείου, και συνεχίστηκε με τις «Οδύσσειες», μια έκθεση που αποτύπωσε αφαιρετικά και συμβολικά τη διαχρονική προσπάθεια του ανθρώπου για δημιουργία και εξέλιξη. Στις Αμέτρητες Όψεις του Ωραίου τριακόσιες σαράντα αρχαιότητες από τις πλούσιες συλλογές του Εθνικού Αρχαιολογικού Μουσείου, σε συνδυασμό με σύγχρονα ψηφιακά μέσα, πρόσφεραν ένα αισθαντικό αισθητικό ταξίδι, παρακολουθώντας την έκφραση του ωραίου ως διαχρονική ανθρώπινη ανάγκη από τη νεολιθική περίοδο μέχρι τους ιστορικούς χρόνους.

Στους 18 μήνες συνολικής λειτουργίας της περισσότερα από 950.000 άτομα επισκέφτηκαν τις αίθουσες της, σχολιάζοντας με ενθουσιασμό την υψηλή αισθητική των εκθεμάτων αλλά και των εκθεσιακών μέσων που αξιοποιήθηκαν. Ιδιαίτερη θέση στην έκθεση, κατείχε ο κόσμος του αρώματος, δίνοντας για πρώτη φορά την ευκαιρία στους επισκέπτες για μια ιδιαίτερη, αισθητηριακή επαφή με την αρχαιότητα μέσω της όσφρησης. Το άρωμα του ρόδου, του φασκόμηλου και του κορίανδρου αναδημιουργήθηκε με βάση τα συστατικά που αναγράφονται στις πινακίδες Γραμμικής Β γραφής από το ανάκτορο της Πύλου, σε συνεργασία με την Εταιρεία Κορρές. Την έκθεση συνόδευσε επιστημονικός κατάλογος στην ελληνική και αγγλική γλώσσα, έκδοση του Ταμείου Αρχαιολογικών Πόρων.

Παράλληλα η ομώνυμη περιοδεύουσα έκθεση «Οι αμέτρητες όψεις του Ωραίου» ταξίδεψε από τον Φεβρουάριο 2018 έως τον Σεπτέμβριο 2019 σε Μουσεία του Δικτύου του Πολιτιστικού Ιδρύματος Ομίλου Πειραιώς, προσελκύοντας συνολικά περίπου 80.000 επισκέπτες. Η έκθεση λειτούργησε ως δορυφόρος του Εθνικού Αρχαιολογικού Μουσείου στην ελληνική περιφέρεια δίνοντας τη δυνατότητα στις τοπικές κοινωνίες να απολαύσουν τις μοναδικές συλλογές του. Η επιλογή των αρχαιοτήτων από τις συλλογές του ΕΑΜ, βασίστηκε στις θεματικές των μουσείων του ΠΙΟΠ που τις φιλοξένησαν.

Πλήθος εκπαιδευτικών και επικοινωνιακών δράσεων συνόδευσαν την περιοδική έκθεση του Εθνικού Αρχαιολογικού Μουσείου, εμπλουτίζοντας την αναζήτηση του Ωραίου με διαφορετικούς και ευφάνταστους τρόπους. Στα εργαστήρια και τις παρουσιάσεις πειραματικής αρχαιολογίας που διοργανώθηκαν, επιστήμονες, καλλιτέχνες και τεχνίτες από την Ελλάδα και το εξωτερικό, πρόσφεραν την ειδική τους γνώση για να εξηγήσουν στους επισκέπτες τις πειραματικές τους προσεγγίσεις στην υφαντική της νεολιθικής περιόδου, το ένδυμα στο Αιγαίο κατά τη δεύτερη χιλιετία π.Χ. και τη μυκηναϊκή ενδυμασία. Παράλληλα, σχεδιάστηκαν πολλές διαφορετικές θεματικές εκπαιδευτικών προγραμμάτων για σχολεία της πρωτοβάθμιας και δευτεροβάθμιας εκπαίδευσης και για προγράμματα ελεύθερου χρόνου, τόσο για το παιδικό κοινό όσο και για ενήλικες. Εικαστικά εργαστήρια, προγράμματα δημιουργικής γραφής και προσεκτικής αισθητικής ανάλυσης μέσω της παρατήρησης ήταν μερικές από τις προσεγγίσεις που εφαρμόστηκαν, ενώ εκδηλώσεις θεατρικών αναγνώσεων και μουσικής πρόσφεραν μια βιωματική αίσθηση της ιδέας του Κάλλους, όπως παραδίδεται στην αρχαία ελληνική γραμματεία.

Αν και το ενδιαφέρον το κοινού για την περιοδική έκθεση «Οι αμέτρητες όψεις του Ωραίου» υπήρξε συνεχές και οδήγησε στην παράταση της αρχικά προβλεπόμενης ετήσιας διάρκειας, έχει φτάσει η στιγμή να δώσει τη θέση της στη νέα  σειρά περιοδικών εκθέσεων που θα παρουσιάσει το Εθνικό Αρχαιολογικό Μουσείο τους επόμενους μήνες, για να τιμήσει τις σημαντικές ιστορικές επετείους της διετίας 2020-21: τα 200 χρόνια από την έναρξη της Ελληνικής Επανάστασης και τα 2500 χρόνια από τη μάχη των Θερμοπυλών και τη ναυμαχία της Σαλαμίνας.

Το Εθνικό Αρχαιολογικό Μουσείο προσκαλεί όλους τους επισκέπτες που θα ήθελαν να απολαύσουν για τελευταία φορά την περιοδική έκθεση  «Οι αμέτρητες όψεις του Ωραίου» στις εκπαιδευτικές δράσεις που διοργανώνει στις 5 και 8 Δεκεμβρίου. Συγκεκριμένα:

• Την Πέμπτη 5 Δεκεμβρίου, ένα κυλιόμενο πρόγραμμα θεματικών παρουσιάσεων θα δώσει την ευκαιρία στους επισκέπτες να γευτούν τις πολλαπλές όψεις του Ωραίου. Αρχαιολόγοι του μουσείου επιλέγουν μία από τις αμέτρητες όψεις με τις οποίες εκφράστηκε η αναζήτηση του Ωραίου στην αρχαιότητα και παρουσιάζουν για είκοσι λεπτά την απόδοσή της στα έργα της περιοδικής έκθεσης. Ακολουθεί αναλυτικά το πρόγραμμα των παρουσιάσεων:
  • 11:00: Τα προϊστορικά ειδώλια ως «ολογράμματα» αισθητικής
  • 11:30: Αναζητώντας την ιδανική Μυκηναία
  • 12:00: Ενδύματα κλασικής ομορφιάς
  • 12:30: Ο κόσμος του αρώματος
  • 13:00: Μικρά μυστικά ομορφιάς
• Την Κυριακή 8 Δεκεμβρίου, θα προσφερθούν δύο στοχαστικές περιηγήσεις στην περιοδική έκθεση στις 11:30 και στις 13:00.

Δηλώσεις συμμετοχής στις Πληροφορίες του Μουσείου με σειρά προτεραιότητας (μέγιστος αριθμός 30 ατόμων ανά ομάδα). Η έναρξη των δηλώσεων ξεκινά μισή ώρα πριν την κάθε δράση. Για τους συμμετέχοντες στις δράσεις, η είσοδος στο μουσείο είναι ελεύθερη.

The temporary exhibition «The countless aspects of Beauty», reaches the end of its successful staging on Sunday, 8 December 2019. It formed the last part of an exhibition trilogy that was designed to pay tribute to the 150^th anniversary of the National Archaeological Museum, since the foundation of its emblematic building. The trilogy was inaugurated in 2015 with the opening of the exhibition «”A dream among splendid ruins…”. Strolling through the Athens of Travelers, 17^th-19^th century», that, among other things, shed abundant light on the cultural environment from which arose the need for the founding of the National Museum, and continued with «Odysseys», an exhibition that captured conceptually and symbolically the diachronic endeavor of humans to create and evolve. In the Countless Aspects of Beauty, three hundred and forty antiquities out of the rich collections of the National Archaeological Museum, in combination with contemporary digital footage, offered an exciting aesthetic journey, pursuing the expression of beauty, as a never-ending human need, from the Neolithic period right through to historical times.

In the course of its 18-month duration, a total of more than 950.000 people visited its rooms, commenting with enthusiasm upon the high aesthetic value of the exhibits, but also upon the optimized means of display. A special place in the exhibition, was assigned to the world of fragrance, giving for the first time the chance to the visitors to experience a special, sensory contact with antiquity through olfaction. A fragrance of rose, sage and coriander was reborn, on the basis of the ingredients that are recorded on Linear B tablets from the palace of Pylos, in collaboration with Korres Natural Products Company. The exhibition was accompanied by a scientific catalogue in the Greek and English language, a publication of the Fund of Archaeological Proceeds.

At the same time, the similarly titled touring exhibition «The countless aspects of Beauty» travelled from February 2018 to September 2019 to the Piraeus Bank Group Cultural Foundation (PIOP) Network of Museums, attracting a total of about 80.000 visitors. The exhibition fulfilled the role of a National Archaeological Museum satellite in the Greek periphery, providing the opportunity to the local societies to view part of its unique collections. The selection of antiquities from the NAM collections, focused on the thematic identity of each of the hosting PIOP museums.

A multitude of educational and communication activities accompanied the temporary exhibition of the National Archaeological Museum, enriching the quest for Beauty in various imaginative ways. In the workshops of experimental archaeology that were organized, scientists and artisans from all over Greece and abroad, contributed their special knowledge in explaining to the visitors their experimental approaches to the craft of weaving in the Neolithic period, the garment in the Aegean in the second millennium B.C. and the Mycenaean costumes. At the same time, quite a few different thematic units of educational programs for schools of primary and secondary education and leisure-time programs, were organized as much for children as for adults. Artistic workshops, programs of creative writing and careful aesthetic analysis through observation, were just a few of the approaches that were employed, while events of theatrical readings and music offered an experiential viewing of the idea of Beauty, as this is portrayed in the ancient Greek literature.

Although the interest of the public for the temporary exhibition The countless aspects of Beauty never ceased and, in fact, led to the extension of the initially scheduled one-year duration, the moment has come for it to give place to a new series of temporary exhibitions that the National Archaeological Museum will present in the following months, in order to pay tribute to the important historical anniversaries of the biennium 2020-21: the 200 years since the outbreak of the Greek Revolution and the 2500 years since the battle of Thermopylae and the sea battle of Salamis.

The National Archaeological Museum invites the visitors who would like to enjoy for a last time the temporary exhibition The countless aspects of Beauty to take part in the educational activities scheduled for the 5 and 8 December 2019. More precisely:

• On Thursday 5 December, a program of successive thematic presentations will take place giving the opportunity to visitors to taste the multiple aspects of Beauty. Archaeologists of the museum choose one of the countless aspects in which the quest for Beauty manifested itself in antiquity, and hold presentations, 20 minutes in duration, on how beauty was rendered through the ancient artifacts in the temporary exhibition. There follows the analytical program of presentations:
  • 10:30: Prehistoric figurines as «holograms» of aesthetic expression
  • 11:00: Looking for the ideal Mycenaean female beauty
  • 11:30: Garments of classical beauty
  • 12:30: The world of fragrance
  • 13:00: Small secrets of beauty
  • On Sunday, 8 December 2019, two pondering tours will be offered in the temporary exhibition at 11:30 and at 13:00.

 

Reservations at the Museum Information Desk, with priority order for the attendance (maximum number of 30 people per group). Reservations begin half an hour before each event.  For the visitors attending the events, free entrance to the museum.
